Recruiting 2 PhD students for the 2027 Fall intake

I. Research Areas:
• Full-Duplex Passive IoT Systems: Focusing on 6G ubiquitous connectivity scenarios and leveraging the laboratory's existing expertise in in-band full-duplex systems, this research covers full-duplex backscatter communication and system architecture, supporting practical applications in fields such as the Industrial IoT, smart healthcare, and environmental monitoring.
• RF Microsystems and Heterogeneous Integration: Addressing the needs of millimeter-wave and terahertz communication and sensing, this research focuses on key technologies including RF circuit design, co-design of antennas and packaging, and RF system integration.

II. Admission Requirements:
• Strong passion and ambition for research and intellectual curiosity, along with excellent hands-on practical skills;
• Prior research training and experience in relevant fields such as Circuits and Systems, or Electromagnetic Fields and Microwave Technology;
• Preference given to candidates who have published or submitted high-quality academic papers.

III. Joint Training Program Details:
• This recruitment covers two PhD programs: one position for join PhD training program between Greater Bay University (GBU) and Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ), and another position for collaborative PhD program between GBU and Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU);
• Training Model: A four-year PhD program, whose first year is spent completing degree coursework at the partner institution, followed by three years of research at GBAU.
• Admission Requirements: The GBU-BNBU program requires English proficiency meeting one of the following criteria: TOEFL-iBT (79/4.5), IELTS (6.5), or CET-6 (500 with a grade of B in the oral section).
• Graduation Requirements: Completion of required coursework credits at the partner institution, fulfillment of academic output requirements set by both parties, and successful defense of the doctoral dissertation.
